The Mega Bonsmara Auction, held on 19 September 2012, delivered consistent value to buyers and sellers for the third year in a row. The event saw buyers from all over Namibia come together in search of quality, affordable and well adapted cattle.

The most expensive bull was sold for N$62 000.00 by Edward Hansen’s EMOK Bonsmara Stud to Johan Human. The average price per bull was N$28 529.41, while the average price paid for commercial cows was N$10 000.00. Commercial pregnant cows were sold for an average amount of N$7 600.00 and commercial pregnant heifers for N$8 000.00. The auction was once again testament to the high demand for quality pregnant commercial heifers with these animals fetching lot prices of between N$10 800.00 and N$11 200.00.

The day was well attended and organised and established the Mega Bonsmara auction as a highlight on the Bonsmara events calendar. With its varied offering of quality stud and commercial animals, Mega fulfilled the needs of both serious stud breeders as well as up and coming farmers.

The Mega Bonsmara Information Day and Auction will once again be presented in 2013, but in the meantime Bonsmara enthusiasts are welcome to visit the buy-and-sell page on www.megabonsmara.com where animals will be available outside auction season.
